In 1998 Helms Candy Co. along with the R&D department of Whitehall Robins developed the world’s first mass-produced medicated lollipop, Dimetapp® Get Better Bear™ Sore Throat Pops. They became so popular with children that in 1999 we manufactured approximately 125 million pops. In 2004 we purchased the Get Better Bear™ trademark from Dimetapp®. Since then, we have continued to manufacture the pops exactly as they have been since their origination so kids can continue to enjoy the great grape flavor and patented bear shape while soothing their sore throat.

Since its founding in 1909 by G. Frank Helms, Sr., Helms Candy Company has been one of the world’s leading producers of premium quality candy. While many changes have taken place in the confection industry, we are proud to say that we still manufacture our products with the same quality ingredients and care that have made our products a favorite for generations. In the 1950’s, Helms opened up its pharmaceutical division and has partnered with a number of companies to develop their medicated lozenges and pops. The Helms facility is approved by the FDA and state pharmacy drug licensing authorities.
